  • Griffiths, Jane, and Nuttall, Jenni. Project on ‘Making Literature, Making Language: 1400–1550’ in collaboration with the OED Development Team. Work towards the development of a normalization tool to tackle spelling variation in 15th- and 16th-century literary language so as to facilitate a wider range of lexical analyses than currently possible. The first phase of the project has two initial case studies, the first testing methods of detecting authorial self-plagiarization (i.e. a poet echoing words and phrases of an earlier work in a later one). The second investigates courtly poetry as an instigator of lexical change, particularly through aureate neologisms.
